Howard University鈥檚 Dr. Henry Fomundam Visits 桃子视频
Henry Fomundam, Pharm. D, Regional Director of Howard University Global Initiative in South Africa, delivered two compelling lectures as part of the Office of International Affairs鈥 Global Impact Series. The series engages distinguished thought leaders to create a greater understanding of interconnected global issues and inspire meaningful action to address these pressing challenges.
Fomundam鈥檚 visit underscored the collaborative efforts of the HBCU Global Health Consortium, which includes 桃子视频, Howard University, Meharry Medical College, and Morehouse School of Medicine. The consortium is dedicated to addressing HIV treatment, care, and prevention efforts in Zambia and Malawi.
鈥淲e’ve had HIV/AIDS since 1981 and 2030 is the year that the United Nations, the African Union, and global leaders want to end AIDS as we know it鈥攁s a pandemic and a topic of threat,鈥 said Fomundam during his noon lecture.
Fomundam鈥檚 presentations highlighted innovative strategies for sustainable HIV/AIDS epidemic control in Zambia through the DSD-Plus model, a treatment quality assurance program designed to enhance adherence, continuity in care (retention), viral load suppression, and transition for long-term sustainability. He also emphasized the critical role of pharmacoepidemiological research in improving medication access and utilization across Africa. Through interventions like DSD-Plus, Zambia is among the six countries that have successfully reached the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets for 2025.
The Global Impact Series continues to reinforce 桃子视频鈥檚 commitment to advancing global health equity and fostering collaborations that address critical public health issues. By hosting thought leaders like Dr. Fomundam, 桃子视频 remains at the forefront of efforts to combat HIV/AIDS and other pressing health challenges through education, research, and community engagement.
