The Office of Research serves as the central hub for academic and scientific innovation, discovery, and scholarship at Charles R. Drew University.
With a focus on creativity and ethical investigation, the Office of Research supports researchers across all phases of discovery. Guided by ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ’s core mission to address the needs of underserved populations, the University’s research enterprise focuses on five areas of medical science: cancer, cardiometabolic disease, HIV, mental health, and health services/policy.

UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute (UCLA CTSI) Grant Submission Unit (GSU)
The is a research partnership of the University of California Los Angeles, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ, and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center/Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation. GSU works closely with faculty to provide services to researchers throughout the grant submission process. Currently, GSU provides services free of charge to all interested ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ investigators for grant applications to the NIH, including R01s, P01s, U54s, and Diversity Supplements.
Office of Research and Integrity (ORIC)
ORIC houses ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ’s Institutional Review Board and promotes ethics, safety, integrity, and regulatory compliance. As such, it provides training on ethics, conduct of research involving human subjects, and conduct of research involving animals.
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)
Promotes a culture of safety and encourages practices that maximize the safety of all ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ researchers while minimizing negative environmental consequences.
Office of Research Development (ORD)
Provides researchers with guidance and support through the proposal development process.
Office of Technology Transfer (OTT)
Educated ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ investigators about intellectual property and helps with the filing of patents, licensing, and commercialization efforts.
