As I step into the role of President of ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ Academic Senate, I am honored and deeply committed to advancing the faculty’s role in implementing strategies that support the academy’s tri-partite mission of teaching, research, and service. Shared governance is the cornerstone of our academic community, ensuring that faculty, administration, staff, and students collaboratively participate in decision-making processes that shape our university’s future.
Over the past two decades at the university, I have built a strong and recognized record of accomplishments, which has prepared me to serve in this role as Academic Senate President. Service to the university and our community is a vital faculty function—one that I take very seriously. I believe that faculty play a crucial role in shaping how the university is perceived by its stakeholders.
I look forward to working with each of you to uphold the values of shared governance and ensure that our university continues to excel in its vision of ‘Excellent Health and Wellness for All in a World Without Health Disparities’ while fulfilling its purpose of assisting individuals in their quest for excellence.
